Cager Classic did a great job of attracting some of the top talent in the region, particularly at the Grassroot level.  After the April evaluation session some of the top High teams in the state of Oklahoma played, but many did not participate with a loaded deck. However the Middle School and below had some great games and talent. Below are some notables from the Weekend of the Cager Classic.

Tyler Pinder 2021 PG 5'10 of GTH 4XIII – Finally had an opportunity to play in his age group after the past two weekends on the 16U Adidas Gauntlet. Pinder did a great job being the floor general, knocking down the long ball, and creating opportunities for others. His poise and fell at his age is his most valuable asset, which allows him to see most opportunities and capitalize on them. In addition he is a tough on the ball defender.

Louis Gurley PG 2021 5’8 of Norman Elite, had a strong weekend as he is another one of top guards in the 2021 class, he has good vision and quick of the dribble with good vision. Gurley has the ability to knock down shots and be a good on the ball defender.

Enrique Lankford 2021 SG 6’0 of GTH 4 XIII, is arguably the purest scorer in this class, the kid can simply fill it up and has a great handle on the ball. He can really shoot the ball and loves attacking the basket. He also has sneaky athleticism and will mix it up.

Aiden Walker 2021 SF 6’0 of Norman Elite, has a good feel for the game, he is sound fundamentals and shoots the ball well from long range. He runs the floor well and hag amazing touch around the basket. He plays with a lot of energy and a smile on his face.

Denarion Whitmore 2023 PF 5’10 was very active and demonstrated a sound set of skills over the weekend. He has the ability to knock down fifteen foot jumpers and use change of direction dribble to create and get to the basket. Whitmore is also a tough rebounder and runs the floor from block to block well for a kid at his age.

Demarion Savoy 2023 PG 5’8 might be one of the top players in the region that I have seen in the region at the guard spot. His ability to see the floor is incredible, he looks like a young Anfernee Hardaway out there. Very patient and just makes big shots when you need him too. It was fun watching Savoy battle a very talented and nationally ranked Ok Chaos team in the championship game.

Rickey Hunt Jr. 2023 5'7 SF of OK Chaos was tough around the basket and made a lot of athletic plays through out. Hunt Jr. is just a tough nose kid who has a good nose for the ball and relentless in his pursuit for 50/50 balls.

Damarious Vealy 2023 G 5'6 of OK Chaos, just knows how to get to the basket and finish through traffic. The kid can play and make plays all over the court. High energy and relentless. He made big shots throughout the weekend and very effective with his dribble penetration and finding the open team mate.

Isiah Willis 2021 PF of Spencer Cougars, very athletic and runs the floor well, in addition to being a great rim protector. Willis is still working on the offensive part of his game, but defensively I really like where he is headed.
