Young Guns!

Malachi Barnes 4-11 PG 2028- While it is still extremely early in his development of Barnes, it is still intriguing to see an advanced young prospect. With speed mirroring his older Brother Devon Barnes (Class of 2021 PG), Malachi uses that speed to get into the lane and kick the ball out to his teammates. With the aforementioned tools and a consistent shot off the catch Barnes is one to watch for in the coming years. His confidence is the most intriguing part of the young prospect game, he will be fun to watch.

Jermain Murphy 5-3 CG 2028- Another young prospect Murphy is a big guard for his age group with long limbs and a quick first step. He is too physical for guards and skilled for front line players all weekend. Given Murphy continues to evolve into the physicals frame he shows early signs of, he could be a name we hear in the future a lot.

High School Boys (15-17u)

EJ Lewis 5-9 PG 2023 Owasso High School/GTH 4XIIIl- A lightning quick guard with a handle and jumper to match, EJ is a sleeper in the 2023 class. His vision and ability to lead has been great during the early season. Improved athleticism and consistency off the bounce will take EJ to new heights. EJ is using his 6A state tourney run as a lead guard for the Owasso Rams as a growth opportunity elevate his young 16U team.

Malek Murphy 6-1 CG 2023 Chickasha HS/Oklahoma Wolfpack- A great athlete and better teammate Murphy was ALL OVER THE PLACE for the Wolfpack. Murphy was the most consistent player of the entire weekend making athletic players that the led his team victorious all weekend and a few highlight reels plays way above the rim.

Malachi Evans 5-10 PG 2023 Norman North/Oklahoma Wolfpack- Our first-time seeing Malachi was a treat. The crafty guard was too poised for defenses beating presses by himself and getting his teammates in spots. With an impressive small sample size Malachi is a sleeper with the potential to make noise this summer.

Aden Rowe 6-0 SG 2023 Edmond Memorial/Oklahoma Wolfpack- Easily the best shooter in the gym this past weekend Aden Rowe is a sniper simply put. He’s the kind of player every team needs because of his ability to stretch the defense. Rowe is also a good help defender who talks on defense. A coach dream. Look out for the sharpshooter.

Malachi Stevens- 6-10 C 2024 RLTC Prep/GTH 4XIII- Few players can affect to game quite like a traditional man on the block and Stevens is no exception. Still raw, the young big needs more time developing his moves on the block, but the fluidity, timing, and hands are already in place. He showed flashes as the youngest player in the 17u division, and the sky is the limit for him.

Xavier McFadden 6-5 CG Chickasha/GTH 4XIII- Wiry strong, athletic, and aggressive Xavier was impossible to keep out of the lane. With several highlight dunks and a poster to add to his wall this past weekend X with improved consistency on his jump shot his name could a hot topic very soon.

Team of the Tournament: Oklahoma Wolfpack

The Wolfpack came to the Big Event Preview and played a great brand of basketball all weekend that led them to a 17u championship victory at the end of the weekend. A team lacking in traditional size but full of tweeners not devoid of it, the Wolfpack consistently showed great off ball movement in their motion, execution of their sets, and improved chemistry in their second summer together. It will be a good summer for them for sure.
