Caleb Nero (2017) found his groove in the third session of the Nike EYBL session in Virginia. During the interview Nero said “he felt good after leaving Indianapolis for the second session”. Nero is no stranger to the big stage; he was instrumental in leading the Athletes First 16U last season to the Nike Peach Jam Championship and kept the team in the top 15 ranking in many national polls. Nero average right less than 22 points during the third session in Virginia, unfortunately his team as a whole felt short. Nero is faced with the same challenge as last season, when the 16U had to go into Houston and win at least four games to qualify for the Nike Peach Jam. Nero feels no pressure, as again he will look to lead Team Griffin to victory in hopes of qualifying for the Peach Jam. The chances for the Team Griffin could stand on the fact that the EYBL has seen more parity this year than they have in previous years.  Nero stated. “Take it one game at a time and the 17U team will have a fighting chance to go to the Peach Jam for the third consecutive year.” Certainly Nero understands that if he duplicates his performance in the 4th session in Atlanta, the team percentages to advance to Peach Jam improves.  Team Griffin currently sits in 7th place in their division.  Approximately one game separates 4th – 7th place in Team Griffin division.
